Blackened or oxidized Sterling Silver is sterling that has been darkened by a surface treatment process which does not change the properties of the Sterling Silver but gives it the look of metal that has tarnished over time.

Twisted wire metal working for jewelry making is a very old Navajo technique and can be found in vintage and Old Pawn jewelry made by Southwestern tribes.

Sterling Silver drops, referred to as ‘raindrops’ by Pueblo silversmiths, are also a design element that you will see frequently in Native American handmade jewelry. Sometimes they are hand-stamped with a starburst or other designs.

Campito is derived from the Spanish word "campo" meaning "field" or "countryside". Mined in Mexico from the Pino Chueco and Cananea mines in Sonora, Campitos is a favorite for jewelry artisans. Campitos is unique in several ways. It grows in clay as free-form nuggets, rather than in veins which is typical of many North American turquoises. Its color closely resembles that of Sleeping Beauty Turquoise and ranges from a light to medium blue with no matrix. Occasionally you may find pyrite inclusions, which give it a little bit of sparkle.
