One of the most famous & highly collectible American turquoises, Orvil Jack turquoise is legendary in the Southwest.
Orvil Jack moved his family to Nevada in 1956, staking a turquoise claim originally known as Blue Ridge, in Crescent Valley, Nevada. This mine produces a highly collectible stone, with intense color running vivid greens, yellows and blues thru the stone. Orvil’s daughter Grace tells of Orvil’s preference for the blue turquoise from the mine, tossing the now coveted green away. In about 1983, Orvil began seriously to mine the brilliant lime green turquoise. After Orvil passed in 1986, the mining continued with the help of Bob Hall and Lee Louden, both master bead makers, searching for the vivid green turquoise.
