Orvil Jack Turquoise

Nevada

Orvil Jack moved his family to Nevada in 1956, staking a turquoise claim originally known as Blue Ridge, in Crescent Valley. This mine produces a highly collectible stone, with intense vivid greens, yellows & blues. Orvil’s daughter Grace tells of his preference for the blue turquoise from the mine, tossing the now coveted green away. In about 1983, Orvil began seriously to mine the brilliant lime green turquoise. After Orvil passed in 1986, the mining continued under Grace's management, with the help of Bob Hall and Lee Louden, both master bead makers, searching for the illusive vivid green turquoise.
