Red Mountain Turquoise

Nevada

The highest grade of turquoise from this Northern Nevada mine is a beautiful dark spider-webbed stone. The webbing is often golden or reddish in color, and the stone is hard and collectible. Austin Turner owned the mine for many years. Much of the turquoise had already come out of the mine by the time Turner acquired it, but from 1982-1985 Erman Blossom and his partner leased the mine, removing a good amount of stone. Turner sold the mine in 2003 and today turquoise is still found in the old mine’s dump area.
